5 CATEGORIES FOR COMPETITION:
Musical Instruments • Novelty/Variety/Comedy • Dance • Singing • Miscellaneous

ENTRY PROCESS:
All entries are accepted and processed in the order received.  A tentative performance schedule will be provided to you with the approximate times at least five days in advance of the finals if chosen. Due to the amount of entries and time constraints at the final public show, there will need to be auditions to select the top 15 performers for the finals.

Auditions will be held on July 30th Farmer Market downtown San Luis Obispo. Due to limited time, open auditions will also be held on August 10th at Central Coast Gymnastics in San Luis Obispo.

The times and location of additional auditions will be determined as we finalize entries. Everyone will be contacted accordingly and information will be posted as we know more at www.CentralCoastTalent.com. You must be a resident of San Luis Obispo County to participate.

AGE CATEGORIES:
There are two age groups 4-12 years (pre-teens) and 13-17 years (teens).  The average age determines placement for duets, trios, and groups.  Adding all the ages of the contestants and dividing by the number of contestants determines the average age.

Any person may request, through the contest directors, proof of age of any talent. Age will be determined as the age on the contest date. Proof of age will be needed for moving on to the top 15 Talent Show.

GENERAL RULES:
1. Performers may do only one routine per category. Each performance requires it's own registration.
2. In order for a group to compete twice in the same category, at least 50% of the group members must be different. This will also require a different registration.
3. No fire or live animals can be used in any routine.
4. No adults or paid assistants may perform.
5. Please be conscious that this is a family event. Lyrics, dance movements,
gestures, and attire should be appropriate for all ages.
6. Performers under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at the auditions and talent show. A parent or legal guardian must sign waiver and application along with the performer.
7. Only with expressed written permission of the parent, we will post a picture and talent description of each of the finalist in each category for each season.

PRIZES:
All contestants will receive a certificate for performing. The top performer in each category will receive a trophy. There will be an overall trophy for the age group which is not the overall winner. The overall winner of all talent categories will receive a booking contract with Rich Ferguson Entertainment. At Rich Ferguson's discretion, other finalist may be offered an opportunity for bookings. Many other top prizes and drawing will be held for lessons and similar by local resources. Awards will be held shortly after the last act.
Other Prizes include:
• Cash Prize to the winner!
• All participants get a certificate
• Gift Cards from Central Coast Surfboards, BooBoo Records, Toms Toys and more!
• Music, dance, gymnastics lessons
• Trophy for the overall winner (and bragging rights forever!)
• Special awards for categories and judges choice awards

TIME ALLOTMENTS:
Most talent show acts require little setup. However, we understand there are some that need some set up. Please note the following time limits and rules.
• Music must be on a CD or an iPod.
• Solos, Duets, and Trios are allowed 5 minutes.
• Groups are allowed 5 minutes.
• .5 point per judge for exceeding time limits.
• .5 point per judge for arriving late (if time allows for performance).
• .5 point per judge for starting over (this will be allowed once if time schedule permits).
• The stopwatch will start when the act starts.  If using music, be sure that when your routine stops, the music stops. If you exit to music, this will be timed and included in your allotted time.

JUDGING:
This will not be a panel like American Idol. This is a supportive, safe and friendly environment. Judges will secretly make their choices and let the winners know after all talents have had a chance to perform. Judging will be determined on personality, expertise, potential, effort, stage presence, marketability, professionalism, time management, creativity and will be scored on a .0-10.0 scale.
